Finnish-Russian Civic Forum (Finland)
The Finnish-Russian Civic Forum (FINROSFORUM) was established in January 2007 in Helsinki by a group of people concerned about the development of human rights and the erosion of democracy in Russia. Our organisation supports civic initiatives for democracy, human rights, and freedom of speech.
FINROSFORUM has held annual conferences and other public events with the participation of numerous human rights defenders and opposition activists from Russia as well as many civil society actors from outside Russia.
The Chair of the Finnish-Russian Civic Forum is Tarja Kantola, Chair of the Social-Democratic International Solidarity Foundation. The organisation's Vice-Chair is Green MEP Heidi Hautala, Chair of the European Parliament's Subcommittee on Human Rights.
FINROSFORUM is a founding member of the EU-Russia Civil Society Forum. Our representative in the Steering Committee of the EU-Russia CSF is Oksana Chelysheva, deputy director of the Helsinki-based Russian-Chechen Friendship Society.
